It looks like we are headed into a Grand Solar minimum, a cyclical event of greatly reduces sunspot activity. We had one between 1645 and 1710, called the Maunder Minimum, which coincided with the Little Ice Age. When the Thames in London froze over so hard that they held fairs on it and European artists painted their famous winter scenes.
We are told that we should not take weather events in isolation has having any meaning, yet the warmists do it all the time. This April this year the UK had the lowest average minimum temperature since 1922. Earlier, in February, right across the Plains and Midwest of the USA they experienced the coldest weather for more than 30 years. Electricity blackouts left millions of homes without power. Whilst in Australia in May Melbourne had its coldest May morning since 1949, with 1.7C, while Adelaide had its joint coldest May night since 1927 at 3.5C. And right now all time records for snow are being set for snowfall in Hokkaido in Japan, part of a huge extreme cold weather event that has taken in much of China and Eastern Russia. These are just a few of the vast number of events we are experiencing in 2021 that run counter to the warmists claims.
But the big one is Antarctica. Firstly because the laws of physics mean that any global temperature change is felt mostly at the poles (and far less at the equator). Secondly because Antarctica is immense, at 14,200,000 square kilometres (5,500,000 square miles), it is the fifth-largest continent and nearly twice the size of Australia. “For the polar darkness period, from April to October, the average temperature was -60.9 degrees Celsius (-77.6 degrees Fahrenheit)” the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) said. An all time record for the continent.
And we can’t let the south have all the glory, let’s look at the Arctic. The NSIDC say: “As of October 31, sea ice extent is tracking higher than any year since 2015, as well as higher than observed in 2007, 2011, and 2012”. See their graph below. In fact so much ice has formed so fast that dozens of ships are trapped in it. Something the delegates at COP26 weren’t talking about.
The lesson here is do not believe the global warmists. Every prediction that they have ever made about our climate has not come true. Every single one. On this alone it would take a very gullible fool to believe anything that they say.
