Science (from Latin scientia ‘knowledge’) is a systematic enterprise that builds and organizes knowledge in the form of testable explanations and predictions about the world.

We owe the modern world and our quality of life to science. It has sorted out truth from lies and given us the knowledge base that everything is built on. When magnifying lenses were invented it became possible to see that skin is full of holes (pores). The French decided (no science involved) that these were how diseases entered the body. So they stopped washing, for 200 years, using powders and perfumes instead. Then actual scientists came along, such as Edward Jenner and Louis Pasteur and the French could start washing again.

In Britain relatively few people have a scientific education. In politics this is even worse, only one member of the entire Cabinet, Thérèse Anne Coffey, has a scientific background. So stuff has been presented to us by Government (with the BBC as their publicity department) that isn’t really science at all and we have swallowed it hook line and sinker.

The first egregious example is using epidemiology, Farr’s Laws, statistics and modelling to predict the course of a disease in a population. This is not really science, it is closer to clairvoyance. Yet the Government presented these predictions to us as proven science. And the modellers were always wrong. Every single time. Not even close. Yet Government decisions costing trillions of pounds of our money were based on them. And the Government kept on using them.

And yet throughout this amazing fiasco there was a better way available. Because many other scientists disagreed very strongly with the Government modelling. They wrote the Great Barrington Declaration and were far more accurate in their predictions. Yet the Government ignored them because the Government doesn’t understand science.

The second egregious example is behavioural scientists. Using advanced psychological techniques developed during warfare they engage in behavioural modification and social engineering. You have been manipulated by them, it is impossible not to be. There are three main lots. The Behavioural Insights Team (BIT), formally known as the nudge unit, which has as many as 500 staff and which works with the Cabinet Office to control us. We all know about the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE), which co-opts top level skills to help and advise the government. But few of us know of the parallel Scientific Pandemic Insights Group on Behaviours (SPI-B) which uses the top experts in the field to control what we think. And also 77 Brigade. The unit of the British Army that exists to carry out psychological warfare against our enemies and which has been turned against the British people. The main mechanism that all these people use is fear. Go to the park and you will die. This is utterly disgusting, immoral and runs completely against our individual rights and freedoms.

When it comes to medical science the gold standard is peer reviewed, random, double blind, placebo controlled trials. This is the real science and you find it reported in places such as the New England Journal of Medicine. It is how the Covid vaccines were tested and approved. During the pandemic huge numbers of people have suddenly become armchair experts on medical science, despite them having zero education on the subject. So if they read that, say, 100 people were given Ivermectin and recovered they believe that Ivermectin is a Covid cure (which it isn’t). The problem is those 100 people may well have recovered without the Ivermectin. Or they may well have recovered faster without it. So what the social media pundits read is definitely not science, but they think that it is because they don’t know what science is. They are just like the unwashed French.

Real science has been utterly fantastic and amazing during the Covid pandemic. Using the scientific method it has repurposed many existing drugs to have therapeutic benefit at different stages of the disease, with outstanding results. It has fast tracked drugs that were in the development pipeline which are showing considerable promise. It has adapted and changed clinical methods and procedures that have greatly increased the survival rate. And it has developed vaccines that are incredibly effective at making people immune to the disease.

We are very lucky indeed to have these genuine scientists.
